A New Must-Try Restaurant in East Nashville Adds to the City’s Allure

If you're considering a move to Nashville or Middle Tennessee, lifestyle and community are just as important as the square footage—and the food scene is a major draw. The latest buzz? East Nashville’s culinary spotlight continues to shine with Babychan, a new bakery and cafe named one of Bon Appetit’s “10 Must-Visit Restaurants to Try This Spring.”

Created by chefs Brian Lea and Leina Horii, Babychan is the couple’s follow-up to Kisser, their wildly popular Japanese comfort food restaurant that’s earned national acclaim from The New York Times, Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, and the James Beard Foundation.

Why It Matters for Nashville Home Buyers and Sellers

When restaurants like Babychan bring national recognition to neighborhoods like East Nashville, it does more than elevate the local scene—it boosts property values, walkability scores, and overall desirability. These are the kinds of lifestyle factors that draw in out-of-state buyers and spark interest from investors and homeowners alike.

Babychan, set to open in May in the Neuhoff District, blends Japanese and French influences in a warm, creative space inspired by Horii’s childhood in Tokyo. From dark wood paneling to vintage glassware, the atmosphere is carefully crafted—just like the neighborhood it's helping define.
